Fashion Rules Worth Breaking

It’s time we rethink our position on fashion rules. From a young age, women are pressured to look a certain way, act a certain way, and be a certain way. Well, ladies, I don’t know about you, but we are ready to break free from the rulebooks and expectations. Going with what is ‘in-style’ and ‘most flattering’ is so 2016. Let’s take back our power and bust some fashion myths.

Fashion Rule Worth Breaking #1: Dress for Your Body Type

First of all, our bodies are unique and beautiful in every way. Dressing for your body shape is code for dressing in a way that makes you appear thinner, taller, and curvier. Or whatever is considered ‘ideal’ at the time. For too long, we’ve been put in boxes and judged ourselves based on someone else’s definition of normal and beautiful. Every woman deserves to feel comfortable and confident in her clothing.

Fashion Rule Worth Breaking #2: Dress for Your Age

There really is no age appropriate wear. Don’t feel as though you need to monitor your appearance, or make decisions about your style based on the decade you were born in. Dress for comfort, confidence, and personal style.

Fashion Rule Worth Breaking #3: You Can’t Wear That if You Are A Mom

Just because you’re a mom, doesn’t mean you have to start pushing your favourite clothing to the back of your closet. While some items may be more challenging to wear as a mom (think anything strapless while you have a little one yanking at your top, for example), you don’t have to throw in the towel on your self-expression and limit yourself to “mommy clothes.”

That’s all we have for today, but there are plenty more fashion rules worth breaking (like all of them, for example). When it comes to fashion, wear whatever makes you feel happy, confident, comfortable and free.
