Welcome to our FAQ page! We know you have some burning questions so here goes! If there is anything you would like more info on please email hello@buttercreamclothing.com or fill out our contact form.

What does “pre-sale” mean?

All of our clothing is made to order so as soon as you order we get working! Pre-sale items can vary on ship-out times depending on the availability of fabric from our suppliers. If you see a long pre-sale date (eg. “ships in 4-6 weeks”), that usually means that particular fabric is on back-order and is arriving soon! “In stock” refers to the fabric on hand and every item is made to order even if it says “in stock”.

What does “in stock” mean in reference to our “pre-sale” items?

Our “in stock” numbers are a way for us to keep track of the fabric on hand or available to us and these items are still indeed, made to order if they are called “pre-sale”. If you are hoping for ready to ship items please head over to our “ready to ship page” and see what we have in stock there as those items will ship right away.

What does “ready to ship” mean?

Our “Ready to Ship” products are just that – ready to ship! Your order will be shipped in 24 – 48 hours. If you add a ready to ship item with a pre-sale item, it won’t ship out on it’s own unless you add the RTS shipping cost to your order.

How long will my order take to ship out?

We always try to get your order out as soon as possible, if the item that you ordered has the title “pre-sale ships in 2-4 weeks”, this means that your items will ship out in that time frame of 2-4 weeks; we try our hardest to get things out sooner rather than later, but sometimes our order volumes are very high so orders ship closer to the 4 week mark. If you order something with a longer pre-sale date “ships in 4-6 weeks” your entire order may ship out closer to the end of the 6 weeks as we may be waiting on fabric from our suppliers due to back orders. As all products are made by talented local seamstresses in Canada and we are completely made-to-order at this time some orders may ship out after the recommended wait time, we all try our very hardest to have orders ship on time but please understand that circumstances like very high order volumes, seamstress delays or fabric delays may occur. If you are wanting something for a special, event, gift or holiday please let us know and we will make sure that you get your order in time.  Please note, custom orders may take longer as these can not be made in our large runs of orders.

Local Pick-up

If you are in the Calgary area and would like to pick up your order once it is ready please select the “local pick up” option as your shipping choice. Once your order is complete we will email you to set up a time for local pick up.

Payment

Payment is processed at the time of your order even if it’s a “pre-sale” order and we do not charge your card at the time of shipping as we have no way of holding your credit card or payment information on the website to do this. Please be prepared to see payment processed on your card at the time that you process your order.

What if I need my order sooner than the indicated pre-sale date?

Please contact us and we will try our very best to accommodate your request. We can usually put a rush on things or set up express shipping for you!

Do we have tall, petite, plus sizes?

We have just extended our sizes up to 3x and if you would like length alterations please email us at hello@buttercreamclothing.com and we can make that happen for a $18 fee. Please note that shipping will be delayed if a custom adjustment is requested as these require more time.

Where do my orders ship from and how will they arrive?

All of the orders ship from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and are sent via Canada Post.

What are your shipping costs?

As of February 21, 2018, shipping to Western Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, NWT) is a flat rate of $5. Shipping to Eastern Canada and the USA is a flat rate of $15. Buttercream Clothing addicts will be rewarded with free shipping on all orders over $200!

What are the washing instructions for our clothing?

All of the bamboo clothing can be put into the washing machine on gentle and cold (making sure to not put these in with jeans or other clothing with sharp parts) and lay flat to dry. The scarves and kimonos are hand wash cold, lay flat to dry. Vests are dry clean only.

What is the quality of our fabric like?

We only use the best quality fabric for our clothing! All of the basic pieces are made of bamboo/cotton/spandex that feels incredible and lasts for seasons to come! We only pick fabrics that do not pill and that look wonderful after dozens and dozens of wears.

What does ethically made mean?

All of our clothing is made in Canada by amazing local seamstresses! We have several talented seamstresses and local businesses that sew for us.

How does the clothing fit?

Our clothing fits very true to size, we design the patterns to fit real women’s bodies so there is no need to size up when purchasing. If you have any questions about sizing please visit the size chart or send us an email to hello@butterceamclothing.com.
